Will you be in on the day of delivery as the driver could turn up at any time between 8.00 am and 6pm on that day unless a timeslot has been given to you.
Most delivery companies provide a curb side service and it is down to the discretion of the driver as to whether they go the extra mile and place the product in a convenient place for you. In our experience this does tend to happen where it is doable and hassle free for the driver. A lot of the couriers run tight schedules and will only have a small amount of time for the drop.
If the product is being delivered with a pallet truck they will usually leave on the curb outside your house unless the ground in your garden is tarmacked, paved or concrete. It needs to be a completely smooth surface in order for the pallet truck to function properly. Again, this will be at the discretion of the delivery driver.
For the larger heavier items, you may need to obtain some extra help. Please don’t rely on the delivery driver to be able to carry out any extra lifting, dismantling etc. If it is an inhouse delivery we more often than not deliver with two people and dismantle and stack as part of a pre negotiated price. Other than this you may need some extra help so always check first.
Height restrictions can sometimes be an issue, often gates have overhead arches as part of their design. Depending on the size of the product being delivered this could potentially be a problem. It might be wise to get a tape measure out and measure the longest point in which the product will go through i.e., will it go in if it is turned sideways etc. So, things to consider and something that may need checking out first.
If you have ordered furniture you will need to have pre assessed whether your product will fit through doorways, stairwells and staircases. This includes any table tops in excess of 220cm. If you are in any doubt, please call the office before making a purchase. A delivery charge will need to be added should we need to return the item to the store.
At the driver’s discretion sometimes, they will place in a convenient location in your garden. In order for the pallet truck to function correctly and move your package to the designated delivery location the ground needs to be level, tarmacked, paved or concreted with no steps or bumps for it to get stuck on. It will not run on grass, pebbles, gravel or soil.
The deliveries on pallets will not be lifted upstairs or hoisted into gardens due to health and safety issues so a curb side delivery will be undertaken in these circumstances.
Can you get a 7.5 tonne lorry down your street, road, cul-de-sac, drive. If you are aware a delivery is taking place you need to ensure there is ample space near the property for the delivery vehicle to park and unload your product(s). This may mean asking neighbours to move cars on that particular day or putting cones out in front of your property.
Before the delivery drive departs, we ask you to check the product for any damages, the driver will make a note of any damage and return the item to the relevant supplier. If you don’t manage to check the goods upon the delivery, we allow 48 hours after signing for the goods for damages to be reported to us. Claims for damages outside this period may be rejected. Please see our Returns Policy for more information.
Due to the weight and size of some of the products, when the delivery arrives, please ensure that you move any pets and minors out of harm’s way.
If you have any doubts at all about the convenience and safety of the delivery, please do not hesitate to get in touch and discuss with us to see what options are available.
